Pulse Partners with Rhys Millen Racing
Pulse – The Safer Braking Technology joins Rhys Millen Racing as a co-primary sponsor on the No. 67 car in the upcoming 2012 Formula Drift, Global RallyCross Championship and Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Now entering his 21st year racing, Rhys Millen continues to be an industry leader and one of the most sought after performance drivers in the automotive scene. Born in New Zealand in 1972, Rhys is the son of famed rally and off road racer Rod Millen. Rhys joined Rod in the US as a teenager and founded Rhys Millen Racing at the age of 21. RMR (Rhys Millen Racing) is an automotive fabrication, tuning and parts facility concentrating on rally, drift and movie car preparation in Huntington Beach, CA.
Formula Drift 2011 produced results showing that Hyundai can compete at the highest level. Rhys finished the season with 2 consecutive podium finishes. In preparation for 2012, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe was completely rebuilt from the ground up. The car showcases the new 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe exterior and numerous improvements to the chassis. First race is set for April 6 in downtown Long Beach, CA.
In the Global RallyCross Championship, Rhys would finish the 2011 season 3rd in points overall after an all-out battle during the X-Games 17 RallyCross final in downtown Los Angeles. The Hyundai Veloster moves into its second season with significant improvements in time for the first race on May 26 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that the 2012 season shows even more potential that these Velosters can be on top.
“Pulse is proud to launch this new partnership between Pulse and Rhys Millen Racing. With Hyundai and Rhys Millen having such a rich heritage in Formula Drift, Global Rally Cross, and the International Pikes Peak Hill Climb, we could not imagine a better way to promote the Pulse Safer Braking Technology message of helping protect drivers from rear-end collisions.” – Mark Patrzik, Pulse Racing Program Manager
The team is set for testing the 2012 Formula Drift Hyundai Genesis Coupe on March 29, 2012. More details on Global RallyCross and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb to follow in the coming weeks.
